Project Overview

Professional Systems Engineering, LLC provided engineering consulting services for NYC DOC Borough facility. PSE provided condition assessment for all of the deficiencies and improvements needed for the following facilities: Manhattan DC (North and South Towers), Brooklyn DC, Queens DC. PSE examined the existing conditions of the building’s components as well as the site, and review compliance with the Department of Correction’s requirements. The security assessment for the NYC DOC Borough facility located in Brooklyn. The current Electronic Security Control Systems are a mixture of technology from the 1980s and 1990s and are in a state of reduced functionality impacting staff needs to provide adequate security and safety to protect staff, visitors, and detainees.

Physical and electronic security including electronic alarm systems, intrusion detection systems, detention control systems, card access systems, rooftop motion detectors, CCTV, detection systems, duress systems, and related systems.

PSE provided information on the following requirments as part of the Master Plan:
  • Communication systems including networks, public address, nurse call, paging, secure intercom, etc.
  • Perimeter Security including sallyports, exterior entrances, fencing and all detection systems and controls.
  • Electronic and detention locks and hardware for Cells and Movement doors.
  • Evaluation of the overall integration of Building Control Systems.
  • Evaluation of existing security equipment rooms, communications equipment rooms, control consoles and control rooms.
