Analysis of NBCI Application
|
|
Requirements Used for Calculations:
- 36 Cameras
- Calculations are based on 3 DVRs using 12 channels each
- Minimum of 5 fps (frames per second) recording per camera
- Storage option of one month of video (30 days) / two weeks of video (14 days)
- Approximately 50% detected movement over time in “High Activity” area
- Calculated prices do not include optional software for remote viewing, keyboards, monitors, or installation.

Analysis:
- Due to available hard drive size configurations, the Vicon, Dedicated Micros, and Sypixx storage configurations needed for two weeks storage include sufficient enough storage for one month of storage. In effect, for these manufacturers, the cost of two weeks of video storage is the same as the cost for one month worth of video storage.
- The Panasonic configuration requires the highest amount of hard drive space to store the desired amount of video, due to the compression ratio for the video. This solution provides the least amount of storage time for the desired budget.
- The Vicon lower frame rate configuration (providing the minimum 5fps required) is the most cost efficient solution that will provide all the required features.
- The Vicon higher frame rate configuration (providing 10fps) provides for higher frame rates for a cost that is comparable to the other solutions that provide lower frame rates.
- The Dedicated Micros configuration provides for the longest amount of video storage, but at a poorer resolution than the other manufacturers.
The Sypixx Networks solution is the most flexible and expandable solution, and is high-density. However, this solution and manufacturer are not proven in the industry (unlike the three other manufacturers), and is the second highest priced solution.

|
Recommendation:
This recommendation is based on a combination of requirements including cost, compatibility, frame rates, resolution, network capability, video compression ratio, storage options, and industry acceptance.
The allowance, budget, and technical requirements are reflected in the Vicon Industries Inc. solution using the Kollector Elite and Kollector Pro DVRs (lower frame rate option as shown above). However, consideration should be given to the higher frame rate solution, due to the considerable benefit of higher frame rates for a proportionately small additional cost.
